Applications open for STEM grants

The federal government has opened applications for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) grants for organisations and businesses to partner with other businesses, experts, schools and community organisations to deliver STEM initiatives for young people.
Federal industry, science and technology minister Karen Andrews, who announced the opening of applications for Maker Projects: Community STEM Engagement Grants, said it was important to foster creativity and hands-on learning in Australia’s younger generations.
“The Government wants to make STEM-related activities and events accessible to all young Australians,” said Andrews.
“Competitive grants from $20,000 up to $100,000 for up to two years are on offer to organisations to deliver maker projects with a wide reach and big impact.”
Andrews said the grants would enable Australians under 18 years of age to get involved in activities related to science, technology and innovation.
“We are looking for innovative and collaborative projects that will engage young Australians and provide them with the confidence and critical STEM skills they will need for the jobs of the future,” she said.
Applications for the grants will close on 19 February 2020.
